We could describe this amazing and different wedding in so many ways! Going to the dogs? A dog-day summer afternoon? Gus and Winnie live a dog’s life? Well, this wonderful event took place in August at the spectacular Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota. Although we were in the midst of the pandemic, Matt and Megan had their dream wedding, surrounded by friends, family and, yes, their two Boston Terriers!

The decorative theme of the event was tropical, and the floral arrangements centered around ginger, peach and pink…and pineapples! The lovely bride carried a wonderful bouquet of pink and ginger anthurium dendrobium surrounded by palm leaves, and her attendants mirrored the theme with smaller versions of all pink flowers. The beautiful flower girls had baskets containing pink rose petals that coordinated with their pink sashes and shoes.

Matt’s boutonniere, as well as the boutonnieres of the groomsmen, contained pineapples to accent the tropical theme. And lest we forget the real stars of the day, we must mention the orchid wreath collars sported by Gus and Winnie! They were so dashing, with their orchid colors contrasting their natural black and white color!

OK, so, back to the décor…The happy couple was wed under a beautiful wood arch that was embellished with pink and peach tropical floral clusters of lilies, anthurium, roses, ginger and baby’s-breath. And the rows of chairs were decorated with the pink ginger and palms for a special, light and airy effect. The centerpieces on each table utilized fresh pineapples for vases, with a reprise of the floral selection used in the arch and centered on large palm leaves.

Last but not least…let them eat cake! A simple, yet elegant wedding cake, reflected the tropical theme with lovely pineapple and palm decorations.

While this wedding may have “gone to the dogs”, the bride and groom celebrated in style and luxury, and, given the timing of the event, even had masks to show their commitment to be “quarantined for life”. We so appreciated being part of this special day…for the humans and canines alike!
