Romance in the Air – Valentine’s Day in October?

In (All) Wedding Flowers, Lakewood Ranch Country Club by Sarasota Wedding FlowersLeave a Comment

Although this wedding took place in October, its colors and theme echoed Valentine’s Day! What a joy it was to be a part of such a beautiful day to celebrate Virginia and Stanley at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club!

CEREMONY
The weather was spectacular for this outside ceremony. A circular arch was the backdrop for the bride and groom as they said their vows. An asymmetrical design of multiple flowers in shades of pinks with accents of Italian Ruscus foliage framed the couple, and as the guests entered, at the back of each aisle stood 40” tall glass vases filled with hot pink hydrangea, roses in multiple shades of medium pink, hot pink and fuchsia with accents of Salal leaves interspersed to give an illusion of depth and lightness.

The aisles were filled with clear acrylic chairs to maintain the airiness of the event and to allow the eye to follow the scrolling design of hot pink petals in the aisle and the focus maintained on the arch and the couple. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet in shades of hot pink, magenta and fuchsia. The fluffy and romantic design was created with the use of hot pink garden and fuchsia roses, soft pink ranunculus and white cymbidium orchids. The six bridesmaids wore fuchsia gowns, and carried romantic bouquets of cream hydrangea, hot pink spray roses and deep pink garden roses to highlight the deeper tones of their dresses. And the two flower girls tossed hot pink and fuchsia roses.

RECEPTION
The ballroom was the scene of elegance and glamour for the wedding reception. With drapery with up-lighting, fuchsia linens and ghost chairs placed around tables that were half elevated and half lower-level, the room projected a multidimensional and airy effect. That gorgeous ceremonial arch didn’t go to waste, as it became the backdrop for the couple’s sweetheart table and those 40” vases that highlighted the aisles? What perfect bookends for the dessert table! 250 Pink Floyd roses were used not only between the multiple layers of a gorgeous cake that was hand-crafted by family friends, but also scattered on the dessert table.

The designs we used on the elevated tables began with our Harlow gold stands with bold and romantic florals including multiple colors and hues of roses such as medium pink “Sweet Unique” roses and hot pink “Pink Floyd” roses, all complemented by the use of purple hydrangea, light pink spray roses and a reprise of the Salal leaves. The centerpieces were accented by our varied heights of shorter stemmed Monet vases and floating candles.

The lower-level tables used the trio of Monet vases and floating candles, but this time they were accented with mercury glass gold mini vases with stems of whimsical floral blooms such as pink ranunculus, hot pink “Lovely Lydia” spray roses, pink veronica and wax flowers with just a touch of darker green foliage.

What a “WOW” wedding! And truly, Valentine’s Day in October, with all the romance, love, colors, and glamour so well-deserved for such a special couple!
